The Web Writer
This operates as an executable file (CGI) running on a web server. Requests for data against a Naxian model are compiled into a SQL query and submitted to the database server. Results are returned as HTML code and the CGI terminates. This code is written as a Dynamic Linked Library to allow multiple concurrent connections with minimal overhead on the web server.
The NAXIAN software consisted of six components:
- Operational Data Store Loader – The Warehouse Builder
- Metabase Maintenance Module – The Mart Metabase Manager
- Data Mart Extractor and Manager – The Mart Builder
- OLAP Engine and Maintenance Module – The Maintenance Module
- Desktop OLAP Browser – The Browser
- WEB OLAP Report Writer and Menu Builder – The Web Writer
